Roachi was born in Tokyo, grew up in Sydney, and now lives in Brooklyn, NY, where he works as a graphic designer and illustrator. Roachi has been designing t-shirt graphics for over 22 years, originally because he wanted to wear his own designs. That interest quickly turned into a deeper fascination with the entire process—designing, printing, and even the quality of the shirts themselves. In recent years, having mostly drawn on an iPad for work, Roachi has gone back to his Blackbook to reconnect with the freedom of just drawing for fun with ink. Lately, he has been focusing on creating higher-quality pieces influenced by New York City and the writers who make it what it is. This Railside graphic is a nod to the train monsters crushing the MTA like King Kong.
